Innovation in Pharmaceuticals: New Opportunities for the Development of Medical Technologies
The modern pharmaceutical industry is a unique symbiosis of academic science, a wide range of applied disciplines, industry, and regulatory practice. The healthcare industry views people’s well-being as a priority goal and is one of the key factors in the development of medical technologies and innovations to protect their health. New technologies for healthy and active longevity are constantly emerging as a result of scientific progress. Collaboration between science and the pharmaceutical industry makes it possible to scale up and incorporate such technologies into practice, as well as influence the availability of medical and pharmaceutical products to a wide range of patients. The introduction of innovative drugs and the development of new approaches to the treatment of rare and socially significant diseases is a modern reality for the harmonious development of healthcare in Russia. Success in this regard can be achieved through the consolidated efforts of the pharmaceutical industry and the government, the social responsibility of business, effective state support mechanisms for innovation, and a flexible and effective system of legal regulation. What environment and conditions are needed for the development and introduction of advanced medical technologies and pharmaceutical products? How do pharmaceutical innovations affect the comprehensive development of medicine? What opportunities for the development of pharmaceutical innovations will be available in Russia in the near future? What examples of the successful introduction of pharmaceutical innovations already exist?

Health with a Woman’s Face: The Power of Communities in the Social Sector
Women are conduits of health values. However, their role is not only to take responsibility for shaping healthy habits in families and society; they are one of the main pillars of the state policy for social change. Women find their purpose in improving people’s health and living standards, as well as building a healthy environment for them, and they direct their power precisely where the state needs the greatest support with resources. Thanks to the integrated efforts of women’s social initiatives, various agencies, and the government, the social sector is turning into a holistic ecosystem, where a seamless model of social and medical care is taking shape. The unification into communities of all women who are implementing their own social initiatives and projects makes each of them part of a single driving force in achieving the national goal of increasing the duration and quality of people’s lives. What specific areas of socially oriented assistance need public projects and initiatives the most today? How do local projects help to increase people’s overall satisfaction with social and medical care? What successful initiatives to shape healthy habits and a health-conscious environment in society in terms of nutrition, active lifestyle, and preventing risk factors are becoming a source of support for the government’s health preservation programmes? How can we build an effective model of interaction between the government and non-commercial organizations and promote the replication of best social practices in the country’s regions? What is the best way to unite women leaders and innovators of the social agenda and scale up the activities of women’s communities in the interests of a healthy society?

Cost-Effective Health Preservation: Modern Opportunities
Preserving and increasing the size of the population is one of Russia’s top national priorities. In the current demographic situation, it is imperative to enhance the efficiency of the healthcare system by altering the existing paradigm: instead of a curative healthcare model, a preventive approach should be introduced. Whereas the former involves a model of disease-centred medical care in which healthcare turns into a system of expensive medical services for limited segments of the population, the doctor is a seller, and the patient is a customer, in the latter case, the efforts of the healthcare system are primarily aimed at introducing the concept of a healthy lifestyle, eliminating risk factors, ensuring the early detection and timely treatment of diseases, and preventing complications. The principle of ‘medicina preventive’ is consistent with the model of Nikolay Semashko, in which the main value is not market interests, but the actual person. In recent decades, there has been explosive growth in preventive medicine with a huge focus on public health, i.e. the primary healthcare link, and impressive results have been achieved despite minimal resources. Integrating the methodological foundations of ‘Semashko’s medicine’ and modern prevention technologies is the key to preserving the health of the Russian people. What opportunities are being created by the practical introduction of preventive technologies at the individual and social levels? What preventive medicine technologies could significantly improve people’s quality and duration of life? What is the best way to integrate the concept of ‘Semashko’s medicine’ and modern prevention technologies as elements of an integrated healthcare system? What benefits can the medical business bring to public health?
